Gil Scott Heron T-Shirt – The Revolution will not be blogged about

This Gil Scott Heron t-shirt not only looks almost as cool as the great man himself, but it also makes a great alternative to the Cli-Che Guevara tees that are seen everywhere. GSH was just as revolutionary and a great poet to boot.
I saw a guy walking down a road in Soho a couple of days ago and I just thought “cool” because that’s what Gil Scott Heron was. Alas, not so long ago he passed away and with his passing, we lost poetic soul who used his words as both weapons and reason, especially in The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. He campaigned for racial equality and nuclear disarmament, his music is sited as a primary influence on the sounds you hear today in rap and hip-hop, and his poetry is a lyrical exploration of what it was to be a man in the US in the latter half of the 20th century. But, for me at least, it is his spoken word pieces that I’ll always remember. The first thing I heard of his was Whitey On The Moon, and I particularly love this version because of the speech he gives at the beginning. It was his mind that made him cool, coupled with his voice and ideas.
So celebrate the man and his brilliant works with this rather splendid looking tee from 8ball.co.uk where it’s available for just under £15, in four colours and five sizes (from S to XXL). If there were more people like Gil Scott Heron in the world, it would be a better place, and so promoting his work with this t-shirt is a fine idea.
